IRAN VS PORTUGAL MATCH PREVIEW!!

Match: Iran VS Portugal

Stadium: Mordovia Arena, Saransk

Date: Monday June 25

Time: 7pm WAT

Head to Head: The teams met in June 2002 and Portugal won 2-0

With qualification on the line and all to play for between these two teams, this would be a cagey affair knowing that the loser of this encounter goes home.

How is Iran shaping up?

Following a very good performance against Spain nearly forcing a draw only their equaliser to be cancelled for offside, Team Melli would consider their chances against lesser fancied Portugal on Monday. The key to Iran securing qualification will be stopping Portugal captain and five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Danger man - Sardar Azmoun, should make a big impact Portugal. Rubin Kazan forward Azmoun has not scored at the World Cup so far but with 23 goals in 35 international appearances, it is only a matter of time.

How is Portugal shaping up?

Portugal, on four points, have a slight advantage over Iran, on three points meaning they need only a draw to take them through. Santos is unlikely to deviate from the formula that has brought Portugal four points, especially with just a point needed to progress.

Danger man: Cristiano Ronaldo, the chase for the golden boot is on. Trailing Kane by a goal, Ronaldo will want to continue his scoring form going into the knockouts
